Optiva 2 IV Catheter with Injection Valve 18G Green 45mm 1x50

The Optiva 2 I.V. catheter has all of the benefits of the electropolished “V” point needle, finely tapered catheter shoulders, thin walled construction, radiopacity and incorporates Ocrilon polyurethane.

The Ocrilon polyurethane used in Optiva 2 is firm for controlled insertion but softens whilst indwelling to conform to the contour of the vein, reducing vessel irritation and increasing patient comfort.

The catheter has a advanced snap cap design that provides convenient one-handed opening and closing. This reduces disturbance to the catheter during injection valve usage.

The luer lock stop cap, used to seal the hub of the catheter is located at the end of the protective sheath to allow for the immediate disposal of the contaminated introducer.

The flash plug contains a porous membrane to ensure a quick consistent flashback and an effective barrier against blood contact.

The Optiva 2 I.V. catheter has a electropolished V-point needle that is designed to reduce the insertion force required to penetrate the skin and access the vein. The precision bevelled catheter tip is finely tapered to ensure smooth insertion. The thin walled needle design optimises flow rate potential for each gauge size.

Whether caused by needle reinsertion or the use of a sharp instrument during dressing changes, catheter embolism is a serious patient safety issue. All of the Optiva range of I.V. catheters and are radio-detectable in accordance with the International Standard for Peripheral I.V. catheters.
